April 2025 - Release Notes
Here are the most recent enhancements to Spotnana’s Travel-as-a-Service Platform. The features are grouped by functional category (Content, Self-service, etc.).
Traveler Experience
Air: Sort order enhancement
We have enhanced the flight search experience by refining the default sort order for flights. The updated logic now prioritizes the lowest-cost, policy-compliant options while still accounting for restricted cabin classes. Restricted cabin options will no longer appear in the top results, ensuring the most relevant and compliant options are shown first.
For more details on booking a flight, see Book a flight.
Enhanced flight credits filter
We’ve improved the way travelers search for flights when flight credits can be applied, making it easier for travelers to see all their available flight options:
Full visibility for Sabre credits – Travelers with only Sabre credits will now see all eligible flight options without any being hidden.
Improved handling for mixed credits – If a traveler has both NDC and Sabre credits for different airlines, NDC credits will still be deduplicated, while Sabre credits will now show all applicable fares for their specific airline.
For travelers with both NDC and Sabre credits for the same airline, the system will continue using deduplicated search, grouping results to display the most relevant options.
These improvements help travelers make the most of their flight credits while ensuring they see every available choice. For more details, see Airline credit restrictions and Redeem an unused flight credit.
Travel Management
Agent overrides for policy-blocked bookings
Company administrators can now grant agents the ability to override and book otherwise blocked booking types on a policy-by-policy basis. When enabled, agents can proceed with making traveler bookings that would normally be blocked by policy, country, user, or supplier restrictions. Administrators can also configure which approval actions (if any) will be required for these overrides. Policy rules will still apply—meaning that while the booking can be completed, it will remain out-of-policy and be flagged accordingly.
This enhancement provides companies with greater operational flexibility by:
Enabling emergency travel despite policy restrictions.
Supporting bookings in restricted countries when necessary.
Allowing policy exceptions for limited inventory situations.
Maintaining policy oversight while accommodating legitimate needs.
For more details, see Allow agent to override blocked bookings.
Cabin class policy rule configuration
With this enhancement, company administrators gain greater control over cabin class policy configuration. Administrators are now able to define specific actions for cabin class policy rules, independent from the default policy group actions. Administrators can set a specific action (No action, Passive approval, Soft approval, Hard approval, or Block booking) for Highest cabin class rules, both for domestic and international flights. When travelers attempt to book a flight that violates a cabin class rule, Spotnana’s platform will enforce the cabin-specific action rather than the default policy group action.
This update enables more precise policy enforcement, such as blocking Business Class when out-of-policy while allowing Lowest Logical Fare (LLF) violations to remain selectable but be flagged as out-of-policy.
For more details, see Set flight policies.
Cabin upgrade rules based on availability
This update gives company administrators greater flexibility in policy settings by allowing availability-based cabin upgrade exceptions. For example, enabling travelers to book higher cabin classes only when in-policy cabins are unavailable.
With this enhancement, administrators can now configure more precise cabin upgrade rules, including:
Allowing cabin upgrades only when in-policy cabins are unavailable
Setting maximum upgrade limits (e.g., “up to Business Class only”)
Applying different upgrade rules for domestic versus international flights
For example, a company can permit travelers to book Premium Economy if Economy is unavailable and Business if Premium Economy is unavailable, but never First Class (with separate rules for domestic and international flights)
For more details, see Set flight policies.
Analytics: Current reporting enhancements
We’ve expanded our currency reporting capabilities to better support our global users. Previously, monetary data could only be converted into five currencies (AUD, EUR, GBP, SGD, USD). With this update, administrators can now convert report data into 57 different currencies with just a few clicks. To do this, select your preferred currency from the Currency Code dropdown at the top of any report. Once selected, all monetary values will update automatically.
We use daily conversion rates to ensure accurate currency conversions.
There may be slight discrepancies compared to real-time or payment provider exchange rates. For reconciliation, users should rely on billing currencies and credit card statements rather than converted currencies in reports.
TMC Infrastructure
Company configurations: Servicing notes
TMC administrators are now able to create and manage servicing notes directly within the Spotnana platform. Agents can then seamlessly view these notes within the agent companion view, ensuring quick access to up-to-date, relevant details while assisting customers.
With this release, TMC administrators can:
Add and edit company-specific servicing notes on the Company settings page under the Configuration section.
Create notes specific to travel policies (air, car, hotel, rail).
Create notes specific to payment methods (air, car, hotel, rail).
Apply notes to all standard or VIP travelers.
Apply notes for travelers based out of a specific country or region.
Format notes with a rich text editor.
Secure information like CVV numbers should not be stored in servicing notes.
For documentation on this feature, TMC administrators can contact Spotnana.
Developer Experience
New Payments API for managing cards in user profiles
We’re introducing a new Payments API, enabling TMCs and channel partners to seamlessly manage personal payment cards in traveler profiles. This API is particularly useful for:
Migrating customers from an existing profile system over to Spotnana.
Managing traveler payment cards on an ongoing basis, such as replacing expired cards or issuing trip-specific cards.
With this new public API, TMCs and channel partners can now:
Add, update, or delete cards in a traveler’s profile.
Retrieve all stored cards in a user profile.
Assign a card to a travel arranger’s profile and share it with all managed travelers.
Control whether travelers can use shared cards in self-serve mode.
All card information is securely handled via VGS, enabling compliance with data protection rules.
This new API simplifies card management, enhances flexibility for travel programs, and ensures a smooth payment experience for travelers and arrangers alike.
API documentation (including concepts, workflows, and reference materials) is available on the Spotnana’s Developer Portal.
