Booking modes

Depending on how a travel booking is made, it can be classified in one or more of the following ways:

  • Self-service: For bookings completed by the traveler or one of their designated arrangers.
  • OBT/Online: For bookings completed using the Online Booking Tool (OBT). This contrasts with bookings that may have been made offline or via another tool (e.g., shell PNR, manual form, offline system).
  • Agent: For bookings completed by an agent (within the OBT, or via a shell PNR, manual form).

These booking modes are separate from the booking type used to classify the booking as being air, hotel, car, rail, etc.
