Cancel a rail trip (U.S. - Amtrak)

You can cancel an existing Amtrak rail booking.

For any changes other than cancellations (e.g., seat selection, departure date, etc.), you must use the amtrak.com site. See Modify a rail trip (U.S. - Amtrak) for more details.

To cancel a rail booking/trip

  1. Log in to the Online Booking Tool.
  2. Click Trips
  3. Select the Upcoming tab.
  4. Locate the trip that contains the rail booking you wish to cancel.
  5. Locate the rail booking you wish to cancel (you may need to expand the booking menu) and click it.
  6. Click Cancel (in red).
  7. Select all refundable tickets (using the checkbox).
  8. Click Continue. The Checkout page will be displayed.
  9. Review your cancellation summary and click Confirm cancellation. Your rail booking will be cancelled.

Once completed, you will receive a cancellation confirmation email from both Spotnana and Amtrak. The Amtrak email will contain refund vouchers (if the applicable fare rules allow a refund).

Amtrak only allows the cancellation of an entire rail itinerary (both legs of a round trip journey) and credits from refunds can only be used directly on the Amtrak website.
